A beautiful Carthusian Monastery near Pisa

The exterior of the monastery

We visited,in July, a very beautiful monastery in Calci which is 12 miles east of Pisa. The monastery is now a museum and open for visits. It is a stunning building and well worth a visit. The floors are also stunning with many different patterns in the marble tiles. The monastery is called Certosa di Calci. Built in the 11th century ,founded in 1399 and updated in the 17th century.

Fortnum’s Heritage Teas

Tuesday, December 18th, 2012

Newly on sale at Fortnum’s the first two of a range Heritage teas. Based on famous blends of the past we have created these striking, retro  designs. Old Silver Tea Pot is based on the silver caddies used in the Tea Salon and  Empire Blend plays with colour and Indian visual messages.

We have designed well over 100 tins in the past and these 2 new tea caddies add to our expertise with tinplate and print techniques.

A fitting design to commemorate the Days of the Empire with a strong Assam Blend Tea

If you ever need “Carhartt’s” then the only place to go in New York is Dave’s New York on 581 Ave Of The Americas. (6th Ave.) Just a thought! From Dave’s we went for a walk along the ‘High Line’. The High Line is a must on a visit to New York. It’s the old elevated railway in the old meat packing district, now very fashionable. Instead of demolishing the line it has been turned into an elevated walkway of about 2 to 3 miles. It’s really terrific as when you walk along it looking at the flowers and grasses that have been planted by volunteers you also get a great view of New York. The railway was the most wonderful idea in it’s day as it delivered and collected goods from the insides of all the factory’s along it’s route. I can’t help thinking that maybe sometime in the future it will all come back!

Weather great, clear sky’s and warmish. day 1 we visited an incredible foodstore/deli called “EATALY” (www.eataly.com. 200 5th ave) Eataly has taken over the entire ground floor/Foyer of this building, the landlords must be very happy! (Pentagram is 3 minutes away, they might have had somthing to do with the graphics?)

Packaging News Awards

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

We’ve just heard we are shortlisted for the Best Re-Packaging of a Brand Category for our work for Whittards.

Of course in our opinion we should win!!!

Interestingly one of the other contenders is Smith and Milton’s work for Crabtree and Evelyn foods, their concept is based on a wallpaper re-using all the original illustrations commissioned by Peter in the C&E heyday.
